Job Description
Our precision manufacturing client near Springfield, MA is seeking a Mechanical Quality Inspector on first or second shift. Direct-hire position, not a contract, with competitive compensation and full benefits package. Candidates should be familiar with manual metrological devices such surface plates, calipers, micros, gauges, etc. Responsibilities include perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections. Qualified candidates should have minimum 3 years’ experience working on complex precision machined components
Duties & Responsibilities
- First piece, in-process, and final inspection of aerospace component parts using manual metrological devices
- Review blueprints, drawing, and/or specifications for incoming parts
- Analyze any problems, initiating corrective action, and reporting results to Quality Manager
- Verify that machined parts meet specifications, identify and document any non-conforming pieces
- Updating production documentation for inspection parts status
- Communicate inspection results to Quality Manager and notify vendors of non-conformances
Qualifications & Requirements
- HS diploma or GED; vo-tech school training a big plus
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in manual inspection of close-toleranced parts in an AS9100/ISO9001 environment
- Ability to use manual inspection tools such as surface plates, calipers, micros, gauges, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and operation sheets.
- Ability to write non-conformance reports
- Good attention to detail and a focus on precision
- Must have a solid working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Work Week
- 40 hrs plus OT available
Shifts
- 1st: Mon-Fri 7:00AM – 5:30 PM
- 2nd: Mon-Thu 7:00PM – 7:00AM / Friday 5:00PM – 11:00PM (15% shift differential)
